As a member of the African Naturalistas Team, one of the perks is getting access to free AN products! However, not all the products are given to us for free, so I made the choice to purchase some oils from the AN store here. I have the Castor, Coconut and Jojoba oils, but I'm yet to try the Palm Kernel oil (it's the next one on my list to try though). I think I chose to get Coconut Oil after my Oil Series posts here.
If you're new to personal hair care, you should know that Coconut Oil is one of the most lauded oils. You can read my post on Coconut oil here. Anyway, I just wanted to share how I use my coconut oil - it's not just for hair!
- Hair Care - Yes, of course the main reason why I bought it was for use in my hair care regimen. I use it as a pre-poo, hot oil treatment (once in a while), and always in my Spray Bottle.
- Skin Care - I like to use my coconut oil instead of lotion sometimes. It keeps me from getting ashy as the day wears on. The only caveat is that I feel like I smell like coconut rice throughout the day :p
- Eye Makeup Remover - I've read that some makeup removers are too harsh to use around your eyes, and that it's better to use baby oil. Instead, I use coconut oil and it slicks the makeup right off.
- Food - Hey, coconuts are food! Using my coconut oil in some dishes gives it an extra punch which I love - especially in curries!
So there you have it - the different ways I use my African Naturalistas Coconut Oil. You can purchase it the store, and if you're in Lagos this weekend, stop by the Salon Day Out event on Sunday. Not only will AN have a stand there, but Atilola will also be speaking about her hair care practices.
How do you use your coconut oil?
